The Who's Daltrey Fears For Next Generation

Rock Radio UK is reporting that Who singer Roger Daltrey worries that new technology means younger generations aren’t taking time to stop and think – meaning they’ll be too easily controlled by the powers that be.

He fears the angry sentiments of classic track My Generation might not be echoed by future kids, because they’re too busy interacting with the virtual world to think about the real world around them.

In a fan Q&A Daltrey says: “I’m not a luddite, but what makes me nervous about it all is what it’s doing to humans. There are huge psychological issues which will only become apparent in the next 20 years.

“Young people don’t contemplate any more. Everything happens so fast the time for contemplation has disappeared. It could become very easy to control the whole world.

“And if people don’t contemplate, where to epiphanies come from? It gets out of balance.”

Daltrey doesn’t believe there’s a great need for other acts to cover Who songs, but he does appreciate the efforts of tribute acts: “Why cover them when the original’s still there and still stands up?

“But it’s great to have the tribute bands. I thank them for doing what they do, because it does keep the music alive. And I know how hard they have to work to do it because it’s bloody difficult.”

He’s planning to try recording a blues album and release it online if it works out, and repeats that he’d love the opportunity to work with Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page or Keith Richards on some blues material.

He observes: “I’ve always wanted to do something with Jimmy. I mean, what the hell is he doing? It’s a waste of talent – he’s a genius. I love Keith but I think the Stones will be back together very soon.

“Eric is doing this laid-back blues stuff but if we could find the songs it would be interesting. I think I could drive him on – I think he needs a bit of driving. That blues stuff is right in the pocket but you need dynamic. Never forget the dynamic.

“I’ve talked to a guitarist I won’t name to do a blues album, just for fun. Just choose some songs from the period we used to like, get in there, do a live album and bung it out on the internet. Blues, but not just twelve-bar boring.”

The Who are in the early stages of planning something for next year, and although it’s too early to discuss details Daltrey’s dream situation would be a touring show where the crowd took their chances on what they’d get each night.

He says: “We’ll be doing something based around our past work. Pete Townshend is writing and you never knew when that might turn up. So there might be a new album.

“We’ve thought about a greatest hits show? We kind of did it last time – but what is ‘greatest hits’? Just the hits and none of the more obscure stuff? That would bore me shitless.

“I’d like to be on the road playing as many different types of shows as we possibly could. Greatest hits one night, Quadrophenia the next, then Tommy – if I could still sing it. And the audience would have to take a chance on what they were getting.”

Guitarist John Norum Returns To His Blues Rock Roots On 7th Album 'Play Yard Blues'

'Play Yard Blues,' the latest solo album from Europe  guitarist John Norum, is now available on Mascot Records. The long-awaited album takes a different approach than Norum's past releases, showcasing a more bluesy side of his soulful style. 'Play Yard Blues' consists of 10 tracks, recorded in Norum's hometown of Stockholm, Sweden.

'When I started playing, I only played blues rock,' Norum said. 'Now I feel it's time to go back to my roots.'

The album title was inspired by the studio in which it was recorded - Play Yard Studios.
'It's also the name of a song and it ended up being one of my favorite songs on the album,' he said.

In addition to the Norum originals, the guitarist puts his personal stamp on a few classics: Thin Lizzy's 'It's Only Money,' Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush's 'Ditch Queen,' and Mountain's 'Travellin' in the Dark.' 'I always loved Thin Lizzy, Mountain, and Frank Marino, so I want to pay tribute to those guys,' Norum said.

As a whole, Norum sees his new album as a tribute to his late wife, Michelle Meldrum of the band Meldrum, who passed away suddenly two years ago at the age of just 39. Photos of Norum and the couple's young son emphasize the double meaning of the album's title, with the guitarist and the boy side-by-side, guitars in hand. 'It's a tribute to Michelle and I wanted him to be part of it,' Norum said. 'And he is proud of his daddy's playing.'

'Play Yard Blues,' Norum's seventh solo album, was mixed and produced by Norum and Peer Stappe. Norum, who sings on the album in addition to playing to guitar, is joined by musicians Tomas Torberg (bass), Thomas Bronman (drums), Peer Stappe (percussion), and Mic Michaeli (keyboards).

Original Alice Cooper Band Recording Tracks For Inclusion On New Alice Cooper Album With Producer Bob Ezrin

BraveWords.com spoke with original Alice Cooper drummer Neal Smith about the band's long-overdue nomination into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011. Watch for the feature to go online at BraveWords.com this week. In the meantime, Smith told scribe Mitch Lafon that Alice Cooper and original band members Michael Bruce (guitar/keyboards), Dennis Dunaway (bass) and he have been in the studio and have already recorded "more than one track" for Alice's upcoming Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, KISS) produced album.

Ezrin has a rich history of hugely successful collaborations with Cooper including such groundbreaking albums as Billion Dollar Babies (1973), Welcome To My Nightmare (1975), School’s Out (1972) and Love It To Death (1971) and has, in the past, been described by Alice as “our George Martin.”

Smith also mentioned that the original four will be playing Alice's Christmas Pudding show that is held each year in Phoenix in December and supports the The Solid Rock Foundation which provides recreational centers for teenagers around the Phoenix area. Last year's event featured Dee Snider, Warrant and Lita Ford among others.

ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons Recalls Opening For Hendrix

Spinner Canada is reporting that decades after opening for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons clearly remembers his favorite live Hendrix tune.

"They did the coolest version of 'The Wind Cries Mary,' which still remains one of my favorites," Gibbons tells Spinner. "One of the reasons was it was in an oddball key -- the key of F. It's one fret up from the key of E, which is an easy key to play. The key of F is the most difficult to find your way. To make your fingers hit the strings in the key of F is just excruciating. But there's nothing like hearing a bass guitar hit a low F note, and Noel Redding playing big old Fender bass, he'd hit that low F, and it would cause Jimi to crack up because it would just rattle him."

With the recent 40th anniversary of Hendrix's death on Sept. 18, Gibbons would have reason to be nostalgic. But what he remembers most about the live shows is the musicianship -- and the technical details few others would notice.

"Of course, Jimi was using Marshall amps, but they were also using Sunn amplifiers, and that was a line of amps that had been developed by Norm Sundholm," says Gibbons, who's somewhat of a rock historian. "He was the bass player for the Kingsmen, who recorded the song 'Louie Louie.' Norm went on to develop this rather successful line of amps that was superb. The amp had a cabinet that would reproduce the low F, which is the most difficult frequency."

Prior to being in ZZ Top, Gibbons was in a band called Moving Sidewalks, which opened for the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Doors.

"We were big fans of the Doors because that first record is so bluesy," Gibbons says.

It was while opening for the Doors that Gibbons hooked up with future ZZ Top bandmates Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.

"I met them through Jimmy Vaughan, Stevie Ray's older brother, "Gibbons says. "Jimmy and I were talking one afternoon. It's still this way today -- there's something with musicians from Texas; there's a bond. There's this kind of unspoken, shared admiration for what everybody does. It's really cool. Jimmy introduced me to Frank, the drummer, and then Frank introduced me to Dusty, and we just kind of hit it off."

It wasn't long before the trio jammed for the first time, in 1969.

"We got together one afternoon and launched into a shuffle in the key of C," says Gibbons. "Three hours later, we were smiling and still playing, thinking, 'There's something to this.'"

Bad Company To Say Goodbye?

The Times Record is reporting that Bad Company might be waving goodbye to U.S. fans in a couple of weeks.

The British rock group's concert on Oct. 7 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Catoosa, Okla., near Tulsa, will be its last U.S. date on its 2010 reunion tour, and the show could be the band's swan song to American fans, said lead singer and co-founder Paul Rodgers.

"After this Tulsa show, there will be no further plans for Bad Company beyond dates in Japan," said the 60-year-old Rodgers during a recent telephone interview. "I'm working on new solo material in the studio, and I've got a solo U.K. tour planned later, so I'm just seeing how it goes."

Although he's scribbling lyrics and cutting demos for new solo material, Rodgers said he's giving 150 percent at Bad Company concerts, which feature fellow original members Mick Ralphs (guitar) and Simon Kirke (drums).

"Mick and I formed the band at the end of 1973 and into 1974, and what I like with these guys is the simplicity of what we do," Rodgers said of Bad Company's straightforward arrangements. "Mick is a very unique guitar player with a simple approach, but it's very musical. His guitar solo structures are perfect for me."

Bad Company also features bassist Lynn Sorensen and former Heart guitarist Howard Leese; both are subbing for Bad Company's original bassist, Boz Burrell, who lost his battle with cancer in 2006 while living in Spain.

"With Lynn and Howard from my solo band with us, the chemistry is very exciting," Rodgers said. "The band sounds very hot-to-trot, so to speak."

Rodgers said there's no doubt that Burrell, if alive, would still be in the band. Bad Company frequently dedicates Burrell's "Gone Gone Gone" to its late co-founder.

"Absolutely, yes, Boz would be involved in this," Rodgers said.

Stone Temple Pilots Scrap Tour After Weiland's Onstage Rant

Billboard.com is reporting that Stone Temple Pilots have postponed 12 dates on their reunion tour, the band announced on its official website Tuesday (Sept. 21). The announcement states that the group will re-route its tour for a "short break" and hit the road again in mid-October. The next scheduled tour date is Oct. 8 in Tampa, Fla.

While the band did not give a specific reason for the break, the news comes two days after frontman Scott Weiland made a rambling speech onstage during the trek's Houston, Texas stop. According to the Houston Press, STP took the stage approximately one hour after opener Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's set, after which Weiland offered slurred tangents about his in-ear monitors, past drug use and thoughts on grunge music.

"The 8th of December will be the time when I stopped doing dope," Weiland said, then hushed the crowd as it began to cheer. "No, no, no, no" he continued. "I started drinking again. My brother died, I got divorced to my wife, and my whole world basically spun around. So you know what? I'm going to take care of myself because that's what I need to take care of. Instead of just having a few shows, I want to have a whole hell of a lot of shows."

Stone Temple Pilots saw its first album in nine years debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in May. The self-titled set has sold 130,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Behind The Thunder : An Exclusive Interview With Drummer Jason Bonham Of Black Country Communion

The name Bonham has been synonymous with powerful heavy rock drumming for over four decades. Ever since John Bonham burst onto the scene when Led Zeppelin exploded with the release of their debut album in early 1969, the mold was cast. That of an explosive thunderous drummer who when needed, sounded like cannons being fired, yet still was capable of subtlety and grace when the occasion called for it.

It was that power which helped propel the British rock legends to massive fame and fortune, and into legend in the 1970's. That amazing talent led to him being generally recognized as one of, if not the best heavy rock drummer in history decades after his tragic passing at the age of 32 in 1980.

Born in 1966, the world at large got its first glimpse of a young Jason Bonham with the release of the Led Zeppelin film 'The Song Remains The Same' in 1976. Appearing alongside his father, drumming on a scaled-down kit, it was a foreshadowing of things to come.

By age 17 he joined his first band Airrace, and in 1985, he joined Virginia Wolf, recording two albums and touring the U.S. supporting The Firm. In 1988 the Bonham legacy came calling twice, as first he joined guitarist Jimmy Page for his 'Outrider' album and tour, then in May he took over the drum spot as the remaining three members of Led Zeppelin reunited for the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert in New York City.

The next year saw him forming his next band Bonham, whose Zeppelin-inflected debut release 'The Disregard of Timekeeping' spawned the hit single "Wait For You", its attendant video being a mainstay on MTV during the period. Despite such success however, the band's next album 'Mad Hatter', released in 1992, failed to meet expectations, leading to their disbanding shortly thereafter.

The 90's also saw him hook up with legendary British blues rock belter Paul Rodgers, drumming on all tracks of the Grammy nominated 'Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters', leading to an appearance at 1994's Woodstock II with Rodgers and guitarist Slash. Two other solo projects transpired, 1997's 'In The Name Of My Father -The Zepset' and 'While You See The Sun', both of which having connections to his late father. The first featuring the songs of Led Zeppelin, the latter seeing Bonham once again appearing alongside his dad via sampling on several tracks.

In 1999 Bonham joined Indianapolis based blues rockers Healing Sixes, recording the Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa) produced 'Enormosound' which was released to critical acclaim in 2002. Leaving the band in 2003, he soon found himself invited to join English hard rock legends UFO. During his tenure with the band they released a studio album 'You Are Here' and a live DVD 'Showtime', both of which were very well received. During this time, from 2004 to 2007 and part of 2007 to 2008 he also found himself playing live as part of a reconfigured Foreigner.

In December 2007 his profile was heightened immensely when he once again filled in for his father at the historic Led Zeppelin reunion show at London's O2. Demonstrating that he is the only rightful heir to the drummer's stool, if and when that band might choose to reunite again, it was an affirmation of his ability to rise to the occasion and do justice to his father's legacy.

Recently we had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Jason to discuss the powerful new album he has recorded with vocalist Glenn Hughes, blues guitar god Joe Bonamassa and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, collectively known as Black Country Communion. In a band filled with masters of their craft, his drumming on the record stands out as a robust example of classic British rock power, and is a performance which would surely make his dad proud.

In part two of our exclusive series of all the members of Black Country Communion, the topics covered include not only his thoughts on the new album, the tour he's embarking on his own next month, The Led Zeppelin Experience - a multimedia tribute to the band, and most of all his late father John, living with the legacy of being the son of one of rock's all time great drummers, and more. Read on as we have a chat with one of rock's true powerhouse drummers, Jason Bonham....Click here for the exclusive interview.

King Of The Blues B.B. King Guests On New Buddy Guy Album 'Living Proof'

antiMusic is reporting that Buddy Guy's new album, Living Proof, will hit stores on October 26th and features B.B. King and Guy on the lead single, "Stay Around a Little Longer."

The landmark single represents the first time that these two blues titans have ever joined together on a studio release.

Asked what he considers himself Living Proof of, Buddy Guy answers modestly. "Do you know how many guys I started out with who just threw up both hands and quit?" he says. "My first wife said to me, 'It's me or the guitar,' and I picked up my guitar and left. We still laugh about that. But I'm still picking away at it, I don't know nothing else." In addition to the collaboration with B.B. King, Guy recruits fellow guitar legend Carlos Santana, who joins him on the slinky tune "Where The Blues Begins.

At 74-"years young," he's been a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago's fabled West Side sound and a living link to that city's halcyon days of electric blues. In a career than spans nearly 50 years he has received 23 W.C. Handy Blues Awards (the most any artist has received), the first annual Great Performer of Illinois Award, the Billboard magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone ranked him in the top 30 of its "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

Recently, Buddy Guy wrapped shooting the "Stay Around A Little Longer" video with B.B. King in Las Vegas and just held "An Evening With Buddy Guy" at the Gammy Museum's theater in Los Angeles where he discussed his storied career and performed a selection of songs. Right now the indefatigable musician is on tour throughout North America.

Leslie West Illness Forces Changes to Scheduled Shows

Leslie West, legendary guitarist and singer for the group Mountain and West, Bruce Jr and Laing, is at home recovering from a recent stay at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey to treat blood clots, (DVT) and a pseudo aneurysm in his leg.

Intervention Radiologist, Dr. John Rundback stated, “Leslie underwent several procedures to re-vascularize his right leg with angioplasty and extensive use of stints”. The aneurysm was a result of anticoagulation drugs administered to Leslie to resolve and prevent further thrombosis. Associated with his 30 year battle with diabetes, Leslie is expected to make a full recovery and is at home resting.

Due to the illness, West has been forced to postpone his September 28th shows at Iridium in New York City and October 2nd “Supergroup 3rd Annual Concert to Benefit “The Right Turn” in Foxboro, Massachusetts . The Iridium shows will be rescheduled for a later date.

All ticket sales will be valid for use at the later date. Leslie encourages his fans to attend and donate at the benefit in Foxboro to help out a “great cause” for “Rockers in Recovery”. Fate, Karma And Throwing Down That Rock And Roll Gauntlet : An Exclusive Interview with Glenn Hughes Of Black Country Communion

To die hard rock n rollers, Glenn Hughes needs no introduction. From his first rise to prominence in the early 70's with Trapeze, through a three year stint with Deep Purple, later with Black Sabbath, Gary Moore and numerous solo releases, his vocal prowess has been such as to garner being called the "Voice Of Rock".

His story is also one of redemption. Overcoming a well publicized substance abuse addiction which very nearly cost him his life in the late 80's, over the past two decades he has rebuilt his career, gaining the respect of fans, musicians and critics along the way.

After primarily being a solo artist for the majority of his recent career, it would appear that finally, at the age of 58 Hughes has found a band in newly formed 'supergroup' Black Country Communion which may very well show the world once again that he is quite simply one of the finest vocalists to ever step behind the microphone.

Formed after the vocalist guested with blues guitar god Joe Bonamassa at the 2009 Guitar Center King Of The Blues Finals in Hollywood this past fall, Black Country Communion's debut self titled album, out September 20/21 world wide showcases Hughes' prodigious vocal talents in a classic way, as he delivers a powerhouse performance of a lifetime.

Reminiscent of Plant, Daltrey and Gillan in their prime, it would appear that the band has rejuvenated and pushed him past even the heights he has achieved previously, his chemistry with Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonham and keyboardist Derek Sherinian shines through immediately, resulting in what amounts to quite possibly the classic hard rock album of the year.

Recently we had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Hughes while in New York City for the first rehearsals of the band, in anticipation of a session for Eddie Trunk's XM/Sirius radio show on 'The Boneyard', and for an exclusive London premiere of Black Country Communion in London to coincide with the album's release.

In part one of our exclusive series of interviews with all members of the band, we discuss Hughes' thoughts on the new album, working with producer Kevin Shirley, his evolution as an artist and much more. Read on as we have an exclusive discussion with the "Voice Of Rock", Mr. Glenn Hughes.(Photo credit: Robert M. Knight) Click here to access the interview.

Roger Waters : Pink Floyd Reunion May Happen

Classic Rock magazine is reporting Roger Waters has revealed that there may yet be a Pink Floyd reunion.

The bassist/vocalist got together in July with guitarist David Gilmour recently for a charity show. Now Waters has told Rolling Stone: “Things have gotten better since [Live 8] between David and I. We don’t see each other socially – he very much lives in the middle of the countryside in England, and I very much live in Manhattan, so our paths don’t cross, but, when we end up being in England, we’ll probably have dinner… [and] there’s no fussing and fighting going on. David and Nick[Mason, drums] and I might do a one-off [show] somewhere, but there’s no way we’re going to do a tour… [Maybe] like a Live 8 but probably just with us. It’s such a shame that we didn’t get around to it before Rick [Wright, keyboards] died”.

Black Sabbath 'Seventh Star', Eternal Idol' Box Sets Due In October

According to Black Sabbath News, the next two reissues in the Deluxe Edition series are the highly overlooked Seventh Star (1986) and Eternal Idol (1987) albums that featured Glenn Hughes (ex-Deep Purple, Trapeze, current Black Country Communion) and Tony Martin respectively on vocals.

After just a handful of dates on the 1986 Seventh Star Tour, Hughes was let go, and Ray Gillen was brought on board. He finished the tour, and work began on the next album, and it was mostly completed. Gillen left to found Badlands (with now KISS drummer Eric Singer also from Sabbath), and this left Black Sabbath with a mostly completed album, and no singer. Tony Martin was brought in and re-recorded all the vocals in two weeks. The album came out with Tony Martin, and the only remaining bit of the Ray Gillen original vocals was some laughter in the track 'Nightmare'.

The original Ray Gillen version of The Eternal Idol has been traded in bootleg circles for ages now.

Sanctuary/Universal UK will be releasing The Eternal Idol Box Set on October 25th. The additional tracks include 'Some Kind Of Woman' and 'Black Moon' (demo) on Disc 1. Disc 2 will comprise the Ray Gillen Eternal Idol album. Complete tracklisting is as follows:

Disc 1: 'The Shining 'Ancient Warrior 'Hard Life To Love 'Glory Ride 'Born To Lose 'Nightmare 'Scarlet Pimpernel 'Lost Forever 'Eternal Idol 'Black Moon' (demo) 'Some Kind Of Woman'

Disc 2: 'Glory Ride' 'Born To Lose' 'Lost Forever' 'Eternal Idol' 'The Shining' 'Hard Life To Love' 'Nightmare' 'Ancient Warrior'

Sanctuary/Universal UK will also release the Seventh Star Box Set on October 25th. The first disc of Seventh Star will include the album as well as the remixed version of 'No Stranger to Love', which appears in the music video of the same. Disc 2 is a live concert recorded on June 2, 1986 and has Ray Gillen on vocals.

The complete track listing is as follows:

CD 1: 'In For The Kill 'No Stranger To Love 'Turn To Stone 'Sphinx (The Guardian) 'Seventh Star 'Danger Zone 'Heart Like A Wheel 'Angry Heart 'In Memory 'No Stranger To Love 'No Stranger To Love' (remix by Jeff Glixman)

Disc 2: 'Mob Rules' 'Danger Zone' 'War Pigs' 'Seventh Star' 'Die Young' 'Black Sabbath' 'N.I.B' 'Neon Knights' 'Paranoid'

Buffalo Springfield To Reunite After 42 Years

Gibson.com is reporting that Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay are reforming as Buffalo Springfield for a concert this fall. The three original members of the ’60s folk-rock group will be reuniting for a performance during Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California.

Young, Stills and Furay are the only surviving members of Buffalo Springfield’s initial lineup. Bassist Bruce Palmer died in 2004 and drummer Dewey Martin died last year. There’s no word on who will fill those slots, or if the band will perform as an acoustic trio.

The last time Buffalo Springfield played a public show was in 1968 (they once performed privately at Stills’ house in 1986). There was talk of a reunion tour, but Young wasn’t interested. Subsequently, Martin and Palmer brought in other members and toured as Buffalo Springfield Revisited. In 1997, the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Young chose not to attend. However, three years later, he released the song “Buffalo Springfield Again,” in which he discussed getting the band back together and sang, “Maybe we can now show the world what we got.”

Young and his wife Pegi began the Bridge School Benefit shows in 1986. The concerts serve as fundraisers for students who have severe physical disabilities. This year’s pair of shows will take place October 23 and 24. As Gibson.com previously reported, Pearl Jam will celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band at the benefit. Other acts rumored to be on the bill include Elvis Costello, Merle Haggard, Lucinda Williams, Modest Mouse, Billy Idol and Jackson Browne.

The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood Smoked Sugar

Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood was once so hooked on drugs, he accidentally smoked sugar instead of crack cocaine.

The veteran guitarist spent up to $4,500 a day on his freebase cocaine habit in the '80s and admits he was so desperate for drugs, he would smoke whatever he could get his hands on.

Wood recalls, "It got to the point where I would be on my hands and knees looking for crumbs that might have fallen out of the crack pipe. I even banned my children eating meringues in the house after I ended up smoking sugar, believing it to be cocaine."

The rocker, who has been to rehab seven times in 30 years, admits his drinking problems were even worse - but he has now been sober for the last six months.

He tells Britain's News of the World: "It was just a downward spiral. When the last bottle went, it was the end of an era. Something clicked in me."

Founding ELO Member, Cellist Mike Edwards Killed By Bale Of Hay

Mike Edwards, a founding member of Electric Light Orchestra, has died in a freak accident involving a bale of hay.

The cellist was killed on the A381 in Devon on Friday, Sept. 3, in an incident in which a bale of hay hit the van he was driving, reports the BBC.

Police are investigating if the runaway bale of hay – weighing at 600kg – rolled off a tractor from a farm close to the road. Edwards' van swerved and hit another vehicle but the other driver escaped the incident uninjured.

Police said they used YouTube clips and photos of Edwards to identify the 62-year-old but they are still trying to find his family to help formally identify the body.

They are appealing for help in tracking down family members, but it is also believed Edwards may have been involved with cello tutoring in the Devon area.

Devon and Cornwall Police Traffic Unit member Sgt Steve Walker said: "This was a tragic accident and we have now identified the victim as Michael Edwards, a founder member of ELO. We have used photographs and YouTube footage to identify him but we now need help contacting his family for formal identification. We don't believe he was ever married and we have identified an ex-girlfriend but she is currently abroad."

Edwards played with British rock group Electric Light Orchestra from 1972 until 1975, when he was replaced by Melvyn Gale.

Black Crowes Vocalist Chris Robinson : "Taylor Swift Is Horrible, Not Talented"

Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson had harsh words for Taylor Swift in an interview with Nylon Guys magazine.

Robinson, said of Swift's music: "I find it embarrassing that adults are like, 'Taylor Swift is very talented.' She's not. She might be cute, but she's horrible," he told the magazine.

He then ranted about packaged artists.

'They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same...When you have computers doing it all for you...there's no individuality. Singing isn't always about being on key; it's about emotionality.'

The Black Crowes brand new double album 'Croweology' was released August 3rd via Megaforce Records.
