Jimmy Page: 'Led Zeppelin's Future Is Down To Plant'

Jimmy Page is insisting the future of Led Zeppelin depends on his former band-mate Robert Plant - because they can't continue the group without the lead singer.

The legendary rockers sparked rumors of a reunion tour after Plant, Page and John Paul Jones reteamed for a benefit concert in London in December, 2007, but the singer has since rejected all offers to hit the road with his old pals.

Plant recently sparked speculation he may reform the band once more for iconic U.K. music festival Glastonbury next summer, after admitting he'd been in talks with organizer Michael Eavis, but he has continually dismissed reports they will regroup.

Page is planning to work on new music in 2010, but despite making it clear he'd welcome a Led Zeppelin reunion, he refuses to carry the band's moniker without Plant's involvement.

He says, "You'd better ask Robert Plant what the future of Led Zeppelin is. Musicians can always play together but I don't think you can go out with a band called Led Zeppelin if you haven't got the original vocalist."

Makes sense that he wouldn't carry the bands name if the band isn't together. In my opinion, Page should just go out and do his own thing. While Led Zepplin may still be popular, the band will never amount to what it was so why even try? Is it better to be great for a while and go out with a bang or try to come back and then completely tank? In my opinion the former is waaay better than the latter.

You have to remember just exactly who you are talkin about here. I mean LED ZEPPLIN??? CMON!!! No matter WHAT they sounded like now, they could never "tank". I hope Plant will get back with the rest and give us old timers something to savor!!!

even if they did tank with the new songs. it would give our younger generation another chance to listen to one of the greatest bands of all time. and if we did get these kids into the older rock. we might just see a come back from the style.

Plant is too busy watching Allison Krause's butt to think about a Zeppelin reunion. The reunion was a "go"...untill the project with her took off. It's all about the money, honey.

mmm i don't think robert is interested in a reunion anymore but in new musical experiences with americana or some moroccan stuff. one reunion was great to let the world understand once more they're wonderful but... he talked clearly : no tour with nobody for almost 2 years ( it was sept 2008).
maybe glastonbury but ... i have doubts .
love robert's voice and curiosity. he likes future not his past. i think.
