New AC/DC Album Due In August

According to ACDC-bootlegs.com, Sony BMG has confirmed by way of a contest announcement that AC/DC's new album is set for an August 2008 release.

Sony is giving one lucky fan the chance to win a prized copy of this seminal record plus a copy of every album in the band's back catalogue (subject to availability). Five runners-up will also receive a copy of the new album too. The contest runs from now until September 1, 2008, which means you'll have to wait for the new album past its release if you've won. You can get more details and sign up here

Over eight years have passed since AC/DC last released "Stiff Upper Lip." The band has not set an official title or release date for their long-awaited new album, but the band is aiming for mid to late 2008 release. The follow-up to "Stiff Upper Lip" was produced by Brendan O'Brien (The Offspring, Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver) and recorded at a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The new album will also be AC/DC's first for Sony BMG's Epic Records label, which reissued the band's back catalog a few years ago. Once the recording sessions for their new album are completed, rumor has it AC/DC will embark on a "farewell" tour later in the year, meaning that they could be breaking up or retiring for good. The band last did a full scale tour in 2001, but toured again briefly in 2003 before disappearing.

It was previously reported that AC/DC will sell their new album exclusively through Wal-Mart Inc. There has been no new information released on that matter to date, however.

Don Coleman, Canada's Premiere AC/DC Vocalist, recorded the song "Women, Whiskey & Rock'n'Roll (celebrating the life and spirit of Bon Scott)" which has been airing in Australia, Canada, USA, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia and , soon to be, other Euro countries. It was recently requested by the British Armed Forces Rock Radio Network to air to their Troops globally (12 countries) to add to the growing list of Broadcast Stations, Universities and Internet Stations.

The song has had great reveiws from the 'cream of the crop' of Aussie bands and Legends and copies were requested by people such as Bob Daisley ( long time bass player with Ozzy Osbourne), Vince Lovegrove ( bandmate of Bon in The valentines -he introduced Bon to AC/DC), Susan Masino author of "Let There Be Rock", President of the WA Bon Scott Fan Club, Doug Thorncroft and many more.

AC/DC emailed to say thanks for the effort for the 'homage video' which is #1 on their site (chosen by the band) for the last 6 weeks at: www.acdc.com/fromtheband and is also on YouTube . The video has had over 6200 viewings so far. You can also listen to the song on the dedicated website; www.myspace.com/doncoleman .

Canadian Stations to air it so far : KRock Charlottetown , PEI; Big John FM, St. John , NB; C103 Moncton, CBC Moncton (Provincially), CBC Radio 3 ( Nationally); CKLN, Toronto; CKIQ, Iqaluit; thatradio, Toronto; irock, Ottawa and numerous other University and internet stations. Don has been doing on air interviews with most to launch the song and has had numerous newspaper, magazine, ezine and industry 'blog' write ups so far with more scheduled in the upcoming weeks.
