Original Alice In Chains Bassist Mike Starr Dies At 44

Original Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr, who played on the band's albums through 1992's 'Dirt' was found dead at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 44.

This past February Starr was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance for having six Xanax and six Opana pills without a prescription.

After leaving Alice In Chains in 1992 he went on to play bass for the band Sun Red Sun, which featured former Black Sabbath members in vocalist Ray Gillen and drummer Bobby Rondinelli. The band released one self titled album in 1995, two years after Gillen died from AIDS related complications.

Tragic, of all the people. It just shows, every day of sobriety is a struggle, and sometimes we just can’t overcome. Rest In Peace.
