The lunchtime flight from Malaga to London will be accompanied by Moore’s girlfriend and his brother Cliff.
The guitarist’s funeral is expected to take place over the weekend in Brighton, where he had been living for a number of years.
Belfast-born Moore died last Sunday in a hotel room in Estempone, Spain.
A suspected heart attack was indicated in the initial post mortem results.
However further tests will be carried out to find the exact cause of death.
He is survived by four children; daughters Saoirse and Lily and sons Jack and Gus.
Gary Moore’s family issued a statement on Wednesday saying they took great comfort in the fact he died of natural causes and was looking forward to his holiday prior to recording a new album.
“His family has requested that their privacy is respected during this sad time and no further comment will be made. They would very much like to express their heartfelt thanks for the show of support and all the kind messages from friends and fans alike, the world over.”
