Play Crossroads Contest Winner Ryan McGarvey To Appear At 2010 King Of The Blues Competition Grand Finals Show

Hot up and coming blues rock guitarist Ryan McGarvey has been confirmed as being added to the bill at Guitar Center's 2010 King Of The Blues Competition, to be held September 2 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA.

The 23 year old Albuquerque, New Mexico native will be joined onstage by bassist extrordinaire Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, David Gilmour) and drummer Chris Frazier(Whitesnake, Edgar Winter, Eddie Money).

McGarvey, as winner of the Ernie Ball 'Play Crossroads' contest, recently performed an extremely well received set at Eric Clapton's 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Toyota Park at Bridgeview, Illinois on June 26, 2010.

Hosted by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the event will be headlined by guitarist Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers Band) and also featuring blues legend Honeyboy Edwards. A friend of Robert Johnson's, Edwards is regarded as the oldest delta blues legend to still be touring. He recently received a 2010 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2008 received a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album with 'Last Of The Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live In Dallas'.

The event will also feature five of the nation’s top undiscovered blues guitarists competing for the King of the Blues crown and $25,000 cash. Tickets can be purchased for the event at this location.(Photo credit : John Birchak)
