Major congratulations are in order as today, as out of a field of over 3,400 entrants, fast rising 23 year old blues rock guitarist Ryan McGarvey was named the winner of the Ernie Ball 'Play Crossroads' contest, earning him a berth at the third Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival, to be held Saturday, June 26th at Toyota Park in Chicago.
McGarvey, an Albuquerque New Mexico native, last weekend wowed the crowd at the main theater at The Las Vegas Hilton (The Elvis room), appearing along with other young guns Graham Whitford, Josh Gooch and Yayo Sanchez at the 'Knight Of the Guitar'. Backing the trio were two rock veterans, bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder) and drummer Chris Frazier (Whitesnake). The show was held at the opening of legendary rock photographer Robert M. Knight's Knight Gallery.
