As previously reported by Billboard.com, legendary guitarist Carlos Santana will be covering Deep Purple's 'Smoke On The Water', Cream's 'Sunshine Of Your Love' with Rob Thomas, Jimi Hendrix's 'Little Wing' with Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones'' 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' with Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland, the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with India. Are and Yo-Yo Ma and Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Fortunate Son' on his still untitled new album due out this summer.According to the Van Halen News Desk, Santana and Train’s Pat Manahan will also cover Van Halen’s 'Dance The Night Away'.
"We're not comparing or competing with those artists -- we're complementing them," Santana says. "But when you hear this, you're gonna do 'Damn!' because it sounds so powerful, with vitality and vibrancy. Like Wayne Shorter says, it's completely new, totally familiar."
