Guitarist Brian Setzer will celebrate his 50th birthday in his new hometown of Minneapolis with a rare club gig by his old band, the Stray Cats, April 10 at the Fine Line.
Tickets to the party go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. for the all-too-fitting price of $50. Known for the '50s-sounding '80s hits "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town," the Stray Cats embarked on their first tour in 15 years in 2007.
Since 2000, Setzer has earned 3 Grammy Awards: Best Pop Performance Duo/Group for "Jump Jive An' Wail", and two Best Pop Instrumental Performance awards for "Sleepwalk" and "Caravan". In December 2006 he received his 7th Grammy nomination for his version of "My Favorite Things," again in the Best Pop Instrumental Performance category.
