Last night (Saturday) I had the extreme pleasure of witnessing two of the brightest young shining lights in the world of blues rock when UK blues rockers Back Door Slam, featuring guitarist Davy Knowles, rolled into Santa Fe, New Mexico in support of their stunning debut album 'Roll Away', which is currently # 5 on the Billboard Blues Charts. And opening up for the band was none other than Ryan McGarvey, who in this writer's opinion more than held his own against these hot, rising bluesers . I'll be posting a full review on this very site soon, but here's a taste of Mr. McGarvey and co. with an excerpt from "Mystic Dream", one of the many highlights on their debut release 'Forward In Reverse' :
McGarvey, who was recently mentioned in a write up at Guitar Player Magazine's online site for their coverage of SXSW 2008 as one of the hottest players they encountered at this year's extravaganza plays a red hot brand of electric blues rock which simply has to be seen to truly appreciate.
