If you're looking for some great new music that's not going to clean out what's left in your rapidly shrinking wallet, you can't go wrong with these free, legal downloads. First off, The Black Crowes, who recently released 'Warpaint', their first new studio album in 7 years, are offering a totally free live recording 'One Night Only' recorded on their recent club tour. Although billed as an EP, it clocks in at around 2 hours. And, it's available to the first 10,000 who register (for free once again) at http://www.liveblackcrowes.com
Next up, we have an album which too few have heard, but it's one more than worth checking out. The album is Bruce Cameron's "Midnight Daydream". Cameron was a fantastic Hendrix inspired guitarist from North Carolina who managed to have an amazing array of artists appear on this his debut released in 1999.
Notable musicians playing on the album include Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles (Jimi Hendrix), Jack Bruce (Cream), Neal Smith and Michael Bruce (The Original Alice Cooper Group), Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep), Bunk Gardner (Frank Zappa), Harvey Dalton Arnold (The Outlaws) and psych rock legend ANT-BEE.
The material runs the gamut from bluesy Hendrix/Cream styled rockers to more early Alice Cooper based material, psychedelia, even moving into Tom Petty territory. There was a big build up in the media prior to the release date, with press conferences, coverage in the official Hendrix 'Experience Hendrix' magazine etc.
Unfortunately, tragically about a month after release, Cameron passed away, but that doesn't detract from the music contained on the album. Although the album is out of print, one can download it for free in high quality Mp3 at his official web site here. If you're a fan of late 60's, early 70's heavy classic rock with excellent guitar work, this one's for you.
